Matcha is a finely ground powder made from specially grown and processed green tea leaves. Unlike regular green tea, where the leaves are steeped and then discarded, matcha is whisked and consumed entirely, allowing you to enjoy the full flavor, nutrients, and aroma of the tea leaf itself.
The tea plants used for matcha are shade-grown for about three weeks before harvest.
This process increases the amount of chlorophyll and L-theanine, giving matcha its vivid green
color and rich, umami flavor.
After harvest, only the youngest, most tender leaves are selected, steamed, dried, and carefully stone-ground into an ultra-fine powder — a process that can take up to one hour to produce just 30 grams.
Ceremonial-grade matcha, used in Japanese tea ceremonies, offers a smooth, naturally sweet taste, while culinary-grade matcha has a slightly stronger flavor, ideal for blending into lattes, pastries, and confections.
Beyond its exquisite flavor, matcha is valued for its health benefits — it’s rich in antioxidants, boosts concentration, and promotes calm alertness thanks to its balance of caffeine and L-theanine.
At Premium Japanese MATCHA.com, we deliver authentic matcha produced in Japan’s traditional tea-growing regions.
Our tea is crafted using cultivation and processing methods that have been carefully preserved
and passed down through generations — bringing you the true taste of Japan.
Matcha is not just a beverage — it is a reflection of Japanese culture, craftsmanship, and mindfulness in every sip.
